My name is Fuhua Lin. Oscar is my popular name.

I am a Professor and the department Chair of School of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Science and Technology of Athabasca University (AU), Canada. I originally came from Guangzhou City, Mainland China and obtained my PhD in Virtual Reality from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong in 1998.

I joined AU in October of 2000. Prior to working in Athabasca University, I was an assistant research officer of Institute for Information Technology of National Research Council (NRC) of Canada in Ottawa. During 1998-1999, I did post-doc research at University of Calgary, Canada.

My current main research interests are in

  • Reasoning and Learning Capabilities of Intelligent agents and Multiagent Systems;
  • Multi-criteria and multi-parties distribued decision-making using AI (in particular, the Multi-Agent Systems approach)
  • 3D immersive virtual worlds and intelligent educational environments.

I am a member of AAAI, ACM, AIED, and IEEE. I serve as a co-Editor-In-Chief of International Journal of Distance Education Technologies (IJDET). I am also on the editorial boards of many international journals. I served as invited reviewers for many international journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Educational Technologies.
